“We offer a very relaxed atmosphere and have been known to get a little excited on the weekends. The locals do like to hang here and we are a little team orientated during football. Just don’t judge us by our plaza. We promise you will be very surprised when you see inside,” said Darrell.
Chef Darrell started his culinary career growing up with a family in the hospitality industry and continued that path for many years.
“Growing up my mother was a barmaid/waitress and my father was the beverage manager of some largest hotels at the time, including the Omni and The Diplomat; and my brother picked up some jobs at the local pizza joints in the area, so you can say I was always surrounded by the industry. Even during Boy Scouts, they put me in charge of cooking. It felt so good to see how happy everyone was with what I prepared. While cooking in the kitchen with mom and grandma during the holidays, my ability to remember recipes was amazing so I would just get asked to make the dishes. So at the age of 14, I took a summer job at the local family restaurant, and I’ve been living the dream ever since,” added Darrell.
Chef Darrell says cooking is his passion and finds it rewarding to make his customers happy when they come in to dine.
“Cooking, I would say brings me enjoyment everyday. Just the look on peoples faces of being full and happy and the thank you given for the food I have prepared for them The hospitality industry in general is enjoyable because of the different characters you get to work with. I believe the most rewarding thing in this business is the people you meet and the people you get to work with and the friendships that are made along the way,” concluded Darrell.
Slackers offers delivery and plans on expanding their kitchen to be able to offer a variety of other enjoyable menu items and to be able to get the existing menu items out to you faster!
